With a wealth of experience in the industry, Graham Weir is a Ladbrokes veteran of 30+ years. Starting his working life in some of their busiest shops in Glasgow, he quickly progressed through the ranks to become Ladbrokes youngest ever Regional Manager at the age of 24. He has been at the heart of their senior team for many years, with roles such as Retail Operations Director North, Operations Director Gibraltar, Customer Contact & Telephone Betting Director. He sits on the Board of CitizenCard, the UK’s only not for profit AV card provider.
With unique experience at a senior level across the company, he took control of Ladbrokes Responsible Gambling efforts at the start of 2014 and has quickly established himself as the industry go-to person on matters such as Cross Operator self-exclusion, Customer Insight & protection as well as matters of policy. Describing his current role, he says “The industry was slow to react to organised campaigns against us and we were poorly organised when responding to the outlandish claims being made. I asked the Board to let me lead on this, because I know how much effort our teams put into looking after and protecting their customers. As an industry, we need to actively demonstrate our social responsibility credentials, making best use of technology to help keep our customers away from harmful behaviour. Politicians, the general public and our regulators must have confidence in us to do the right thing and our customers should trust us to look after them”.
